Office 365: Lets look at Sway
If you your customers or anyone in your business use Office 365 they will have noticed the growing range of apps. Eventually they will want to know what they are and what they do.
I’m going to make it easy for you and do a few quick posts to get you acquainted with these great apps.
Think of Sway as a fancy new Power Point type application. Its great for presentations, web content and news letters. It lets you throw together text, images, video, tweets and even charts and Sway will make it all look good.
Last weekend I spent some time in the garage building a new desk so I used Sway as an excuse to show off my skills 😉
I put this very simple Sway together in under 10 minutes and the outcome looks great for the time and effort.
When you login to Sway you can jump into any of the examples to see how sways are put together. I recommend taking a quick look at the examples but then just jump in and Create New.
Use some images from your latest event or project to create a new sway for your website or a newsletter.
It’s a little confusing when you first start using it but the first thing you will want to do is click on Cards from the top menu. This is how you drop in Headings, text and images.
Here I drop in two headings which can include text and images grouped together. Sway will change the way headings look depending on how much text and how many images you add.
Its not too obvious how you upload images when you first try. Click on the image placeholder, click on suggested then select Upload from the menu. You can then select images from your local drives and upload them into your Sway.
Once you have added your content you can click on Design on the top menu to choose your look and feel.
Next you can use the Navigation menu to specify how your Sway behaves. I choose to navigate through my Sway from left to right but you can choose to have then scroll down or using the bottom option have your Sway flick through page by page.
Anytime you want to test your Sway to see how it looks press the Play button in the top menu.
If you don’t like the way it looks hit the Remix button to have Sway change the look and feel at random!
Once you are happy with your Sway you can share it with anyone in your business or grab the embed link to use on your website or in an email newsletter.
There you have it my quick overview of Sway. Start creating them for your newsletters, website or team meetings!
Why not send me your sway in the comments to share what you’ve done!
