Trying to upgrade to Windows 10 or simply want to uninstall HP Drive Encryption but can’t?
Getting the error HP Client Security Manager 8.x is required?
During a recent Windows 7 to Windows 10 upgrade I encountered this error and here is how I solved it.

Step 1:
First install the latest version of HP Client Security Manager
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp98501-99000/sp98508.exe
Step 2:
Next Install the latest version of HP Drive Encryption from here
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71555.exe
Step 3:
Next Reboot
Step 4:
Now uninstall HP Drive Encryption (It will let you do it this time!) and reboot again

Regarding this “Latest version of HP Drive Encryption: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71555.exe
This is not the latest. I have version 8.6.24.53 that came with my laptop. It’s refusing to install the version you provided because it’s older and asked that I uninstall the existing version first… Obviously I wouldn’t be on this page if I could do that…
Do you know if there is a version later than mine?
